Lilie Wijayanti Poegiono and Elsa Laksono
Two female climbers named Lilie Wijayanti Poegiono and Elsa Laksono died at Puncak Jaya or the Carstensz Pyramid in Mimika Regency, Central Papua, Indonesia. Both are suspected of dying from hypothermia.
The two climbers had previously reached the peak of Carstensz with their group on Friday (28/2/2025). Tragically, Lilie and Elsa were later reported dead in the early hours of Saturday (1/3/2025). They died on their way down from the peak of the mountain 4,884 meters above sea level (masl).

• Lilie and Elsa graduated from SMAK St. Albertus Malang.
• Lilie studied at Telkom, while Elsa studied dentistry in Jakarta.
